Fun In The Sun.

I missed my family, especially this week. It has been too crazy for me to even go visit them so I knew I HAD to see them today. It was such a beautiful day and I didn’t want to be cooped up in the house by myself. So mom dropped me off at my sister’s house and I enjoyed her company. My nieces and I took advantaged of the lovely weather and went outside. They were trying to teach me how to hula hoop again, which it was a total fail. HA!  But overall, I didn’t mind if I couldn’t do it. I just enjoyed them having fun while we listen to good classic tunes from the 50’s on Pandora. We even had some lovely ladybugs fly on us. Emma, on the other hand, didn’t like that. (She hates insects!)

Doo Froogly.

I finally had something to do on a Friday night that consisted of good music and some dancing. There is this local band in Arkansas called Doo Froogly, that my friend, sister and I discovered last summer. They finally put a show together yesterday. There was no question rather or not we were going. It was definite YES!

Lenzi and I finally got downtown but the thing was, there is always a problem when trying to find a parking spot. Finally we found one and headed inside. This time, it was at a place where there is not a dance floor. So we kind of had to wait till everyone let loose and made a dance floor. That night, I saw two lovely ladies I have not seen in a very long time. It had a blast and cannot wait another night like last night.

Photo Assignment Progress.

For my professor Reeder’s class, we have been doing stories for each medium. As of now, our assignment and medium that we are on is photo. Now, you think this would be the easiest, but for me that was not the case. I struggled on the fact I didn’t know what to do for each establishment that he had assigned. He said that each photo must include location, characters, situation, emotion, and resolution. Now I realize his goal for us students was to make us think about what shots we wanted to capture and to keep us from just taking pictures of random things. Of course, I overthink everything. But before we had to turn it in, I became confident of the shots that I got. Special thanks to my brother-in-law and the Carlton family for helping me out.

Cory & Topanga.

When I was younger I enjoyed watching the show “Boy Meets World“. The dynamic of the characters of Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence always fascinated me. I believe that show was the first realization where I would confuse the line of fiction and reality. It was the first show where I grew to love made up characters. When you are younger, it is hard to fathom that the characters you see on tv are not real. Or at least not back then where it was rare to see “reality tv”.

Now that they are making a sequel series called “Girl Meets World“, you bet your bottom dollar I am excited. I recently read an article where it gives you reasons why Cory and Topanga’s love will ruin your expectations of love because theirs were perfect. You should check it out because it quite humorous.

Visitors.

During my spring break, I kept myself.. lazy. Yes, lazy. Do not judge me. I just wanted to be able to relax and not care for anything until my schooling started back up. Well.. it went that way until my actual weekend of Spring Break. My dad’s family came in. Good Lord. For those that do not know my dad’s side of family think of this, I have never actually had a conversation with majority of his siblings because some speak little or no english. Some of his siblings are loud but they mean well. I knew once we found out that they were going to show up the following day, mom and I would be cleaning the house like there was no tomorrow. I am my mother’s child when it comes to having company over. We have to have things organized. And of course, my dad’s family gave us little notice like they always do, we still got the house cleaned. To my surprise, it was nice to have some company.Even though I hardly understood what my tio was saying, mom and I were very entertained.

Destin.

After seeing everyone posting of Facebook their amazing getaways for Spring break, I am here in cold Arkansas. I am missing Destin. I was fortunate enough to to go visit Destin, Florida a couple of years ago and I never thought water could be that clear. It was a wonderful time. The weather was perfect and the company was enjoyable. Destin was this nice cozy place where people were friendly and it was encouraged for you to become a beach bum during the day and all dolled up when the moon came out. Since I am here in Arkansas, I will just imagine I am at Destin.

Pretty pottery.

 Today Lenzi and I painted some pottery at Pottery Worx in Russellville. It was both our first time do it and let me tell you, it was a wonderful experience.  The staff there is so friendly and helpful. Everything there is well organized and nicely priced. We quite enjoyed it. I never realized how painting can calm a soul. The smell of the pottery and the sound of dipping your brush in the water, and feeling the sightly chalky pottery against the palms of your hands, there is nothing like it. We both sat there listening to good christian tunes and being silent. Not because we were not in the mood to talk but that we were fully captivated by painting and being engulfed by the experience. If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you do. It will do wonders on your soul.

New look, new me.

 You know a lot of people think women get haircuts for a dramatic change of looks if they go through a bad breakup or if they want to impress someone. Well.. I can’t say that isn’t true. However, in my case, that is far from it. I have been envious of Zooey Deschanel’s bangs. In fact if you were to google search Zooey Deschanel in your search bar, you will see pictures of her and her lovely bangs. My sister, mother, and I each got our new hairdo at Angles in Clarksville. If you need a haircut or a change then you must go see Susan. She is fabulous and I am in love with my new hairstyle.

Birthday.

I can’t believe that today is my birthday. This year needs to slow down! Today my beautiful sister made sure that my birthday was special. And goodness, was it ever! This morning, I got a phone call from my grandmother from Louisiana. Her and granddaddy were in town and wanted to treat me to a birthday lunch. I met them up and enjoyed my lovely late morning with them. Then I met up my sister and nieces to get a mani and pedi. For women, it is such a lovely thing to get her feet and nails done. After we were done with that, we picked good ol’ Cracker Barrel to eat dinner and headed back home. Today was a marvelous day. Thanks to my lovely sister.

Early Birthday Celebration.

Today, my family blessed me  by taking me to one of my favorite restaurants, Fuji. I had the chance to interact with our chef and “try” to do a trick that consisted a spatula and an egg. Needless to say, I failed. But it was so worth the embarrassment. I think the family quite enjoyed to entertainment and food. I sure know I did tremendously. I am grateful I have my family to enjoy these little adventures.  I can say that this is a great way to start my much needed Spring Break. Now I can not wait to celebrate it with relaxation and catching up so much needed sleep!
